Cory hits a teacher out the window of the common room, Cory faces expulsion from college. However, the teacher lied about hitting on Topanga in her dorm the night before.

When Cory makes fun of a student's poem that Mr. Feeny reads in class, he is embarrassed when he finds out that Shawn was the one who wrote it.

In an effort to be more popular at school, Eric creates a TV show similar to The Truman Show featuring his roommates, but it's Rachel who becomes the popular one on campus.

Now that Cory and Topanga both know that Shawn and Angela still love each other, they have different ideas about how to handle it. Topanga wants leave them alone but Cory uses every opportunity he has to throw his friends together. Meanwhile, Eric takes his store Santa job too seriously when he convinces Rachel and Jack to help him steal his family's gifts to give to underprivileged children happy.

Shawn and Angela draw up a restraining order forbidding Cory and Topanga from any further interference in their romantic lives, but Shawn has a difficult time when Angela dates someone else. Meanwhile, Alan tries to overcome his feeling too old to raise another child by shopping for a motorcycle, and in Alan's absence, Eric becomes a birthing coach.

Shawn and Jack's father Chet comes to visit suddenly and when confronted by Shawn, he promises that he has come to stay and make amends to his sons for never being there for them. But after treating them to a steak dinner and consuming a piece of Rachel's killer chocolate cake, Chet suffers a heart attack. Shawn reveals that his anger at his father is partly fear that his own apparent inability to connect emotionally is inherited. After a reconciliation, Chet has another heart attack and dies.

Cory and Topanga play The Fiancee Game to prove to everyone how compatible they are, and are crushed when Eric and Rachel know far more about each other than they do. As a solution, Topanga suggests that they should live together on campus and really get to know each other. Living together brings out sides of them that the other isn't so fond of. Meanwhile, Shawn is outraged to discover evidence that Chet went to Jack's stepfather for help in paying for Shawn's college education. He decides to take the trailer out on the highway and convinces Cory to accompany him. Eric walks in on Jack and Rachel kissing passionately.

To help accept his dad's death, Shawn takes Cory along on a road trip in Chet's trailer, where they end up at a truck stop where the young waitresses are searching for something more, and Cory discovers that Shawn has no intention of returning home. Shawn has to convince Cory to let him go and let him find his own way. Shawn discovers that his father was secretly very proud of him. Chet's ghost appears to Shawn and they finally reconcile their differences.

Cory becomes upset when Topanga seems less interested in spending Valentine's Day so when Topanga decides to cheer Amy up with a baby shower, Cory takes charge. But his idea of a baby shower turns out to be a female version of a bachelor party, including a pizza-guy stripper, but the disgusted guests are distracted when Amy's waters break and she is rushed to hospital for a premature delivery -- and they are told that the Matthews baby may not survive.

While everyone anxiously awaits news about newly born Joshua Matthews, Cory continues to alienate Topanga, who now considers herself a member of the Matthews family. When Shawn returns and is accepted by the elder Matthews as family, Cory realizes where his true values lie.

Cory and Shawn help Mr. Feeny in declaring his feelings for Dean Bolander after her ex-husband, Curtis, returns to win her back. Mr. Feeny saves Dean Bolander's life by swatting the rare bee brought back by Curits just before it stings. Meanwhile, Rachel challenges Jack to take her out on a real date.

When Cory and Topanga make an agreement to tell the truth about everything and everyone, their honesty creates tension at Rachel and Jack's dinner party.

When Cory has nightmares where the recurring theme finds him trying to kill Shawn in different ways, he goes to Mr. Feeny to interpret it. Meanwhile, Eric finds a new, yet odd, roommate who seems to have seen Psycho once too often.

While Cory deals with his anxieties about his future marriage, Topanga's parents come for a visit and reveal some unexpected news. Meanwhile, Feeny pops the question to Dean Bolander, and they agree to get married in the Matthews living-room.
